My Comfort Cutter,  for natural wrist alignment

The Comfort Curve Grip of the My Comfort Cutter is designed to give you the most natural feeling cut ever. Traditional rotary cutters require you to bend your wrist, or to put unnatural strain on muscles and tendons in your hands, fingers and wrist. The My Comfort Cutter aligns your naturally with your arm as you cut, relieving stress in your wrist, arm and shoulder, even over extend periods of cutting!

Raised Ruler Edge

All of the TrueCut rulers have a raised edge or track on both sides that provides extra security when cutting. The ruler edge adds more surface area for the rotary blade to rest against. This gives a safer and more stable cut, while also preventing the cutter from slipping over the ruler. The edge doesn't take any extra space, or add to your measurements.

TrueGrips

Non-Slip Adhesive Grips - Transparent for easy fabric visibility - Safeguards against slipping - 15 Grips per pack

Cutting Fabric

For cutting strips from fabric with a rotary cutter, we would normally put the right side of the fabric facing up.

If you’re cutting strips from a piece that has already been sewn together, we usually put the seam side (wrong side) facing up. This makes it much easier to see that the seams are lying flat and to line your ruler up accurately.

So for pieced fabric seam side up is generally the easiest and most accurate.

For tiny blocks, I’d recommend seam side up, particularly if you need to square the block accurately. You can see exactly where your seam lines and intersections are.

A few things make a big difference:

  • Make sure the blade is really sharp, a blunt blade needs more pressure and is more likely to move the fabric.
  • Put plenty of pressure downward on the ruler, especially close to where you’re cutting.
  • Cut away from yourself in one smooth movement, rather than sawing backwards and forwards.
  • A non-slip, our small non-slip grips on the underside can really help.
